I found it easier to keep doing the group directly outside ZoS Channel; yeah it did take awhile but i recon it may have taken longer and slightly irritating more journey going for more

Current route I am using. Full team of heroes. After flagging my heroes to Geoffer Pain Bringer's bunch, I just re-flag them around that area, killing the two Naga patrols and 1-2 outcast groups. No Oni pops. I may end the run with an attempt at getting Sskai's Sword (B on the map).

I needed two sets, it didn't take too long, but longer than the average Nick farm. I found it less frustrating than last week, because the farm run doesn't require you to waste time killing foes that don't drop what you need.

I found better drop rates fighting Krakens in the Boreas Seabed mission. Just flag heroes away when fighting them.

NM, hard mode doesn't increase the drop rate of trophies.

To reiterate this fact (as per the wiki):

"Foes are more likely to drop rare or hard-to-find items, e.g. bosses are more likely to drop greens. As a corollary, they are less likely to drop low-end items, such as trophies."

So definitely run in NM

Funny enough I've always gotten my green drops in NORMAL MODE vs hard mode. The only thing I've found decent about hard mode are those skill book droppings. Even in EOTN I get more lockpicks to drop than hard mode areas in other parts of the game and my lockpicks don't break nearly as often in EOTN as they do in the rest of the chapters. I normal mode farm with heroes and I always get twice as much stuff in normal mode than I do in hard mode. So definitely a lot of stuff STOPS dropping when you play Hard mode especially resources and trophy drops. Like feather farming I always get twice as much more in normal than hard. I also am getting just as many drops this week with 4 heroes along with me as I am running it solo. So, to make it faster might just as well load up on heroes but not too many.

That's the laugh I'm going to get when Nicholas starts over in about 9 months. Many players think he's going to start over in the same spots requesting the same items. I don't. There's lots more things he could want or ask for than their are areas he could be in. So while he may be back just outside Eye of the North in April I don't expect him to want iris flowers again.

I posted this on the Wiki too, but I really really hope that John and the other GW Devs at Arenanet randomize Nicholas the Traveler after he visits every location once. I like the mystery about finding Nicholas every Monday and collecting the item he wants. I dont want it to be predetermined like the Zaishen stuff.

I've thought that too. It did occur to me that they may actually jumble up the next cycle, or even change items to ones that haven't been used so people can't actively plan what stuff to farm for the next week. I mean, that would be too easy.

Default Greed vs. labor

I have no problem with players making money on Nick's items; I frequently spend one evening farming and buy the rest for our guild if we don't get all the trophies we need. But this week, the sellers has gone nuts!

The normal ratio is half of the average cost of a gift: 4k so if Nick needs 1 per gift than 2k is fine, 2 per gift, up to 1k, 3=700g, 5=400-500g. The seller makes money and the buyer who doesn't have time saves money (instead of buying gifts.)

For some odd reason, people are asking 2k to 5k ea making each gift 4k to 10k! I'm seeing sets of 10 going for 20k to 35k! Players who normally buy is pointing out that 20k for trophies (which means you still have to go out and get it and you use up your allotment) is too high. They also pointed out that all they have to do is skip this week and it will start up in a few days.

But the sellers explained that many bought it at 1k and is now making double, triple their investment...

I just wondered if they heard about the player who did that for several months and ended up losing tons because eventually, she had to buy high to get the items and very few would buy at her prices...for me, when I get extra, I try to stay at the above fair, win-win pricing because it's no fun waiting around in the hope that someone will be so desperate or so new that they haven't figured out that the return isn't there.

No, the buyers have gone nuts. If no one buys a single Kraken Eye at 2k, think how quick sellers would drop to 1k.

It's absolutely stupid to pay 20k or more for a set of Eyes when the gifts themselves could be had for the same price. But people are shelling out the gold, so why not sell at that price? I would too had I a stockpile of Eyes.

Willing seller, willing buyer... it's called "The Market".

Ease of acquisition and availability/supply of the item is the key.

If it's easy to get the item (Red Iris Flowers?), there will be an abundance and as a seller you will not even get your "normal ratio is half of the average cost of a gift" value you refer to.

Conversely if the item is hard to get and rare, the seller can sell for more than your "normal ratio is half of the average cost of a gift".

I have sold gifts for 5k and just sold jujus for 3.5k... so I guess I am one of those "nuts" sellers... but I can live with that... all the way to the bank

Yeah, if a drop is rare, I'm not going to waste my time farming it if people expect to pay next to nothing for it. I mean, that is why we farm, to make a profit. Not to be a cheap outlet of Nick items for those who can't be bothered to get out there and do the work.

Default Counting the hours

Yes, absolutely, it is the buyers that determine the cost. Unfortunately, many buyers are either too young and/or new to realize that 4k for items that you still have to fight to get to Nick when u can just buy it -- or wait until next week when the items will be easier--is stupid.

My whole point is eventually people catch on--and the seller is left with items worth 30g and I for one find waiting for the newbie and/or unthinking person to bite tedious.

Anyway, it will all be over in a few hours.

There's nothing at all wrong with this. The eyes drop rarely. If I could find someone who sold them for only 1k, I absolutely would sell them for 2k. I couldn't though, because the farm was so difficult that there were tons of people buying them for 2k, so there was no reason for people to sell at 1k.

It was a brutal farm this past week. I'm glad it is over and looking forward to the new week.

We found Nicholas chilling in the Nahpui Quarter, searching for Celestial Essences.

Found him.....Nahpui Quarter. Just leave from Senji's Corner and head down a few ramps. No enemies to fight and you can't miss him. He wants 3 celestial essences.

Sorry no pictures, but should be easy enough to confirm.

Edit: Ooops, Maria beat me to him.
